Lizzo is being sued by three former dancers who accuse the singer of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment.
According to the dancers, Lizzo even allegedly pressured one of them to touch a nude performer at an Amsterdam club. At the club, they dancers say Lizzo allegedly “began inviting cast members to take turns touching the nude performers, catching dildos launched from the performers’ vaginas, and eating bananas protruding from the performers’ vaginas. Lizzo then turned her attention to Ms. Davis and began pressuring Ms. Davis to touch the breasts of one of the nude women.”
One of the dancers claimed the singer fat-shamed her and then fired her after she recorded a meeting because of a health condition.
“The stunning nature of how Lizzo and her management team treated their performers seems to go against everything Lizzo stands for publicly, while privately she weight-shames her dancers and demeans them in ways that are not only illegal but absolutely demoralizing,” their attorney Ron Zambrano said in a statement.
Lizzo was also accused of racial harassment. The dancers say they asked to be compensated for their downtime at 50% of their weekly pay, but an accountant allegedly reacted to the request by offering 25% and scolding them for being “unacceptable and disrespectful.”
“Only the dance cast — comprised of full-figured women of color — were ever spoken to in this manner,” the suit reads.
The plaintiffs are seeking compensation for emotional distress including unpaid wages, loss of earnings and attorney’s fees.
