Lizzo Opens Up About Harassment Scandal After Lawsuit Dismissal: ‘I Had to Make Peace’

Lizzo is speaking out about the harassment allegations that have followed her for three years.

The 38-year-old singer appeared on Sunday TODAY with Willie Geist, where she talked openly about the emotional impact of the legal battles.

“I had to make peace with the fact that there’s a version of Lizzo that exists now that the world controls the narrative and I don’t,” she said. “But what I can control is who I really am.”

Asked whether she feels compelled to defend herself, the Grammy winner replied, “I’m not a fighter, I’m a lover.”

Her comments come after a judge dismissed a lawsuit filed by former wardrobe stylist Asha Daniels against Lizzo’s touring company, Big Grrrls, on Sept. 1.

Daniels had alleged a workplace environment involving racism and bullying. Her attorney later expressed disappointment with the ruling and said they were considering further legal options.

Following the dismissal, Lizzo celebrated the decision, writing, “I prayed for the truth to come out, and thanks to my incredible lawyers, the truth has prevailed.”

However, the singer still faces a separate lawsuit filed in 2023 by three former backup dancers alleging sexual harassment, racial harassment and a hostile work environment.
