Lionel Richie said Elliot Grainge was nervous when he asked for permission to marry Sofia Richie.
“Poor guy. I thought he was going to pass out, but he survived it. I was going to rib him a little bit, but I didn’t want to play. He was going to faint. It was wonderful. He’s deeply in love,” Lionel told Access. “That’s all you really want as a dad.”
Lionel also shared, “Elliot had a head start, because I’ve known him since he was like 12, 13-years-old. So he kind of knows me, from years of being in the business and stuff. He knows who I am. So I can’t intimidate him.”
Lionel prefers Elliot to Sofia’s ex Scott Disick.
“She’s 19,” Lionel told Australia’s Daily Telegraph in 2018. “When you’re 19 you know everything. Is it going to be for life? I don’t know. But for right now it’s just a phase and I’m going to stand real still in the corner, get me a good drink and not make too much noise.”
