Lil Yachty says he had no idea who rapper DDG was back in 2017 when DDG dissed him on freestyle “Big Boat.”
“DDG got on dissing me. That’s how he got on. I was so confused [when I saw it.] I had no clue who he was. And I would never diss someone. First of all, I don’t diss people. But EDG was a group I had in high school. So when I saw him tweet I was just confused, like in my high school there was a group called EDG [and that’s what I said on the song.] So I was just saying, ‘I don’t know you.’ I just didn’t know him,” he told Kai Cenat.
He continued: “So when I said I didn’t know him, he took it personal and he made the whole diss song. I fully respect him. I like him as a business man and a hustler and as an internet [personality]. He knows how to control the internet. He’s smart. He’s just smart.”
DDG dropped the diss after the thought Lil Yachty mentioned him in his freestyle over Tay-K’s track “The Race.” He did not.
The pair have long since squashed their beef and have collaborated together more than once.
