In 2019, Lil Reese was shot in his hometown in Chicago after a 55-year-old man tracked down his stolen vehicle and tried to take his truck back.
Speaking to No Jumper, Reese spoke about the shooting which changed his rap career forever.
Lil Reese says the car was not stolen and it was a case of mistaken identity.
“They was shootin’ from five lanes over,” he explained. “It’s goofy sh-t. They was five lanes over, shootin’ at my car, thinkin’ I was somebody else.”
He continued: “Somebody else had the same car as me, and they just did a video in the car, so they thought my car was his car, and they shot my car up.”
The rapper was also shot in the eye in 2021.
“I’m good,” he wrote at the time. “I’m not blind or sh-t. Don’t believe what you seeing on [the] internet. I don’t even kno where tf they getting all these fake ass stories from.”
