Lil Nas X is staying positive and prioritizing his health, according to his attorney, who says the star has been in good spirits while working through the fallout of his August arrest.
The 26-year-old musician, born Montero Hill, appeared briefly in a California courtroom on Monday, facing three counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer. He has pleaded not guilty.
The rapper smiled as he entered and made no remarks during the hearing, during which the judge approved a protective order regarding evidence and set his next court date for March 12.
Outside, his lawyer shared an upbeat update.
“Montero is doing amazing, doing great, and we’re super happy for him,” he told reporters, adding that the team is confident about the case moving forward.
Hill was arrested in the early hours of Aug. 21 after police said he was found walking naked along Ventura Boulevard in Los Angeles. Prosecutors claim he injured three officers while they attempted to detain him. He was first taken to a hospital for a possible overdose before being booked into jail.
After spending several days behind bars, the “Industry Baby” rapper told fans the experience was “terrifying” but assured them he would be okay.
At a September hearing, his legal team said he had entered treatment at a facility outside California, though those details were sealed.
