Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory, the founder of the Black Mafia Family (BMF), will be released early from prison.
Meech was indicted on drug trafficking charges and sentenced to 30 years in prison back in 2005. A judge has slashed his sentence and the former drug kingpin will be released in 2015.
In January, his new attorney Brittany K. Barnett filed an early release petition claiming that he can be released earlier than initially intended as he is no longer a threat to society.

“Notably, Federal Bureau of Prisons (B.O.P.) staff observed that ‘Flenory has displayed a dedication to remaining physically fit and has taken it upon himself to lead and teach exercise classes to other inmates,” Barnett wrote. “He also leads regular focus groups out of various self-help books and appears to [have] a positive mental health effect of other inmates.”
Meech was originally sentenced to a 30-year sentence which was reduced 27 years by U.S. District Judge David M. Lawson in June 2021.
Meech has reportedly stayed out of all trouble behind bars since 2021.
