Lil Durk has been hit with new racketeering charges just two months before trial, and his lawyers are calling the indictment “lipstick on a pig.”
The rapper, whose legal name is Durk Banks, is now facing two additional counts, including murder in aid of racketeering, according to court documents filed Wednesday. Prosecutors allege that Durk and several other defendants were part of a criminal organization connected to murder, attempted murder, robbery, and drug trafficking.
Durk’s legal team fired back in a statement shared on his Instagram, accusing federal prosecutors of making a late move because they believe the original case is weak.
“For nearly two years now, federal prosecutors have desperately tried to fend off challenges to a very weak case,” his attorneys Drew Findling, Marissa Goldberg, Brian Steel, and Christy O’Connor said in a statement. “Now, just two months before trial, they pull this pathetic pivot.”

“This is not a sign of strength. It’s an acknowledgment of weakness,” they continued. “The fact remains: Durk Banks is innocent, no matter how many indictments they want to throw at him.”
Durk was first arrested in October 2024 and has pleaded not guilty to the initial charges. Prosecutors have said they are “prepared to proceed to trial” in August.
The case comes as Durk remains one of Chicago rap’s most recognizable success stories. He broke through as a major voice in drill music, built his Only the Family label, and later crossed into mainstream success with projects including The Voice, 7220, and Almost Healed. His collaborations with artists such as Drake, J. Cole, Lil Baby, and even country music star Morgan Wallen.
