Actor Larenz Tate is calling out Hollywood studios, for choosing Black British actors over Black American actors – and it’s UNFAIR he says. Media Take Out learned that Larenz sat down for an interview with the popular podcast Earn Your Leisure, and he explained how hard it is for Black American actors to get work in Hollywood these days.
During the interview, Larenz told the hosts that he doesn’t see other Black actors as “competition” and that he’s happy when any Black actor gets work.
But the talented actor pointed out a serious flaw in Hollywood. He believes that executives feels, who are mostly White, that there’s more value in Black British actors because they have an audience abroad so they translate internationally. He also believes that they’re helping to spread the lie that Black American actors are not as marketable.
He explained, “Hollywood is in love with the UK and all things British so there’s a decline in Black American actors.
That’s pretty unfair, if you ask us …
