Kodak Black will not face charges after a May arrest in Florida that initially landed him behind bars on an MDMA trafficking allegation.
Court records show that prosecutors filed a no information notice in the case, saying the evidence was “insufficient to prove possession of contraband.”
The rapper, whose legal name is Bill Kapri, was arrested in May after authorities linked him to a November 2025 investigation at the Children’s Safety Village in Orlando. The cops responding to reports of gunshots found two vehicles at the scene and said an officer smelled freshly burned cannabis. A search uncovered a pink bag containing a substance believed to be MDMA.
Investigators said the bag resembled one seen on Yak’s Instagram account alongside items including scissors and a lighter. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement later confirmed the substance was MDMA in what authorities considered a trafficking amount, according to the affidavit.
Despite that finding, prosecutors ultimately declined to pursue the case formally.
Yak has had several previous legal run-ins. He was arrested in 2023 after police found him asleep behind the wheel, though a substance initially believed to be cocaine was later identified as prescription oxycodone.
In 2021, President Donald Trump commuted the rapper’s federal prison sentence for falsifying documents used to purchase firearms.
