Kroy “KJ” Biermann, the 15-year-old son of Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann, is facing additional serious charges after a grand jury returned an indictment in his case.
According to the September 3 indictment, KJ is charged with aggravated child molestation, aggravated sexual battery, aggravated sodomy, false imprisonment and three counts of sexual battery against a child under 16.
The teenager was initially arrested August 17 after another minor accused him of sexual misconduct. KJ has denied wrongdoing through his attorney, Jason Sheffield.
“There are two children at the center of this case,” Sheffield said following the indictment. “KJ was 14 years old when these events allegedly occurred.” Sheffield argued that the legal process has so far presented only the prosecution’s allegations and said his client will fight the charges.
“An arrest and an indictment cannot tell us the whole truth of a case,” he said.
KJ has remained at the Metro Regional Youth Detention Center since his arrest. A source said he has been keeping up with his schoolwork while hoping to return home.
“He’s doing the best he can at the moment,” the source told US Weekly. “He calls his mom every day.”
His lawyers filed a motion on September 2 seeking bond, detailing KJ’s connections to family, teachers, coaches and friends as “substantial.”
Sheffield maintains KJ is innocent and said the defense will present its evidence “at the appropriate time and place.”
His next court hearing is scheduled for September 9.
