Media Take Out confirmed that there’s a dangerous new trend taking off in the inner cities around America – KILLER KIDS. And no, we’re not talking about teenagers either.
A beloved 82-year-old former Louisiana Mayor of Minden, Louisiana and his daughter were gunned down. And Media Take Out learned that police believe that the shooter was just 10-years-old.
On Sunday, Joe Cornelius and his 31-year-old daughter Keisha Miles were found dead inside their Minden residence. Minden is a small town outside of Shreveport – and is considered one o the most dangerous places in the state of Louisiana to live.
According to US crime data, a person in the city has an up to 5% chance of being the victim of a crime, every day they’re in the city.
Details on the shooting have not yet been released, but police say that the unnamed boy spoke to authorities with his grandmother who is his legal guardian.
“We have the suspect in custody now,” Minden Police Chief Jared McIver said.
“We’ve got a confession. But in these cases when you’re in, it’s very delicate. When you’re dealing with a child of this age, you know, in their stage, we’re looking at … was their motive, what was the motive?” he told Minden Press-Herald..
Both Cornelius and Miles were shot several times. The police chief said the boy was “scared.”
“Joe Cornelius’s years of service to Minden were marked by his commitment and dedication to the betterment of our community,” Minden mayor Nick Cox said in a statement.
But it’s not just in Minden – violent crimes by children are on the rise all across the country, Media Take Out has learned. Last year, a 6-year-old from Newport News, Virginia, obtained possession of his mom’s gun and shot his first-grade teacher. Some of the more shocking examples include an 11-year-old in Apopka, Florida, who allegedly shot two of his 13-year-old teammates during a dispute over a bag of chips. In another instance, a 15-year-old student in Flint, Michigan threw a chair at her teacher, knocking her unconscious.
