Kevin Spacey Says He Feels “Less in Jail” After Years Away From Hollywood

Kevin Spacey opened up to Bill Maher about the sexual misconduct allegations that stalled a huge portion of his Hollywood career in a recent interview.

Appearing on Maher’s Club Random podcast, Spacey faced a direct question from the host about the number of accusations made against him over the years.

“When it gets to like you had, it’s like, ‘Come on man, there’s too much smoke to be no fire,’” Maher said.

“I never said there was no fire,” Spacey replied. “It just wasn’t a raging forest fire. It was a small kitchen fire that could have been put out with an extinguisher.”

The Oscar-winning actor has denied committing any illegal acts. A London jury found him not guilty in 2023 of nine charges, including sexual assault, connected to four men. He was also found not liable in a U.S. civil case filed by actor Anthony Rapp, who alleged Spacey molested him when he was 14.

Earlier this year, Spacey reached a settlement with three men who had accused him of sexual assault in a London civil case. No settlement amount or further terms were released.

During the podcast, Spacey said, “I hit on a lot of guys,” and described himself at the time as “fiercely closeted.”

Maher noted Spacey’s years away from major roles, saying, “A 10-year sentence is a serious sentence.”

Spacey said he now feels “less in jail” than he once did.

Spacey has been trying to revive his career, but he has yet to regain the level of stardom he had reached at the peak of the accusations.
