Duane “Keffe D” Davis is expected to ask for bail under $100,000 and to be placed under house arrest. His trial for the 1996 murder of Tupac Shakur begins in June.
The hearing has been delayed until January 9th, but Keefe D’s attorneys will argue that he a married father of four and poses no risk to the public and won’t run to avoid the trial.
Keefe D has claimed his was in the car with the shooter who claimed Pac’s life. Recently, he changed his story and now says his claims were just for entertainment.
“The truthfulness of the content of the interviews was never verified. The book and interviews were done for entertainment and to make money from a situation that Kading and others had already profited from,” Keefe’s lawyer wrote.
His attorneys say he should be released due to ongoing health issues.
“He is not getting his bi-monthly oncologist check-ups. Additionally, his heart health has declined. He was put back on a group of medications to try to get things under control,” the motion reads. “He has to take these medications in the jail because he is unable to do the things necessary to maintain proper health. His diet in jail is terrible. He is given heavily processed meals full of sodium that barely pass as food.”
