Kandi Burruss Defends Todd Chrisley Pardon Support

Kandi Burruss has addressed the backlash she received after she congratulated Todd Chrisley, who recently received a presidential pardon from Donald Trump and has since been released from prison.

Fans quickly slammed Kandi for supporting Todd, but Kandi doubled down, noting that Todd is supportive of minority groups.

“When I showed love to him, I did get a little negativity online, and I don’t know why because Todd and I … we’ve been knowing each other since years ago … Of course I’m happy for my friend,” Kandi told Entertainment Tonight, noting that “he’s definitely a voice” for minorities.

She continued, “He always cared about minorities and issues that dealt with minorities. He’s raising a daughter who’s a young Black woman. So those issues, even though it doesn’t affect him personally, it affects him. He was already talking about the issues before he got out of jail, so I don’t want people to try to say, ‘Just because he got out of jail…’ because he was already sending letters and doing things to talk about the injustice that was happening where he was.”

Todd and Julie Chrisley were serving time after being convicted of a massive $36 million bank fraud and tax evasion scheme before the pardon.

The Chrisleys rose to fame for their hit USA Network series, which followed their lives as flashy real estate moguls jumping between Nashville and Atlanta.
