Kamala Harris says President Donald Trump should leave the White House if he can’t handle journalists watching his every move.
The former vice president, 61, delivered the biting criticism during a recent appearance on Baby, This is Keke Palmer, aimed at the Trump administration’s decision to revoke press credentials from journalists at CNN, MS NOW and Politico.
“You’re in the wrong place. If you want to do things in secret, then why don’t you just leave the White House?” Harris told host Keke Palmer.
The former Democratic presidential nominee accused Trump of trying to keep Americans from seeing what happens inside his administration.
“First of all, it shows the extent to which the current occupant of the White House has such a fragile ego,” Harris said, also questioning why a sitting president would object to reporters documenting his words and actions.
“If you can’t stand people to watch what you’re doing and listen to what you’re saying, one has to ask, what are you doing?” she asked.
The controversy reached federal court, where U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly temporarily restored the affected journalists’ credentials for 14 days.
Harris had previously criticized the administration’s actions during a September appearance in Michigan, accusing Trump of attempting to silence journalists.
“He’s trying to stifle the ability of journalists to let the people of America know what’s really going on with their government,” she said at the time.
