Gaming Kai Cenat was arrested and taken into custody after a giveaway event drew thousands of young people to Manhattan’s Union Square.

Cenat asked his online followers to come out to Union Square and thousands turned up. He promised he would be giving away free PlayStation consoles and gift cards and other items. The crowd began to get rowdy later in the afternoon and some caused injury to others by throwing heavy items.

The police pulled the streamer from the crowd and a spokesperson confirmed he is facing charges for inciting a riot, unlawful assembly “and a few other charges,” NYPD Chief of Department Jeffrey Maddrey per NBC New York.

“We want our young people to come out and gather and have fun. But when it gets to the point where they disorderly, we want the parents to come and take control. And let us take a step back,” Maddrey said.

Earlier this year, Kai Cenat became the most-subscribed Twitch streamer of all time, with more than 100,000 subscribers.
