K. Michelle is new to The Real Housewives of Atlanta, but it appears she doesn’t believe she is on the same level as her castmates.
The Memphis-born singer, who has spent more than 20 years building a career across R&B and country, told DECIDER she has no plans to record with fellow Bravo stars who have released music.
That includes reality personalities from across the Housewives world, with cast members such as Erika Jayne, Scheana Shay, Melissa Gorga, Luann de Lesseps, and Candiace Dillard Bassett all stepping into the booth.
“No, I’m not a dabbler,” she said when asked if she would work on music with anyone in the franchise. “I’m super successful, I don’t need to dabble with any of them. There’s nobody I want to dabble with. I don’t really dabble with my gift.”
The singer first broke through with her 2009 single “Fakin’ It,” featuring Missy Elliott, and has since shifted toward country music. Her upcoming album, Puddin’, follows performances with Jelly Roll and the Fisk Jubilee Singers, as well as appearances tied to the CMA Awards and ACM Honors.
She did say that she has “respect” for former RHOA star Kandi Burruss, a member of Xscape and a longtime songwriter.
K. Michelle has taken swipes at Drew Sidora, who also has a music career. Shamea Morton also tried to use the show to promote her music.
