After many months of silence, Justin Baldoni and his wife, Emily Baldoni, are speaking publicly about his legal battle with Blake Lively.
“We have not spoken publicly for the better part of the last two years,” Justin said in an Instagram video posted Wednesday. “And it’s not because we haven’t had anything to say, because lord knows we have.”
The director and actor of It Ends With Us said previous attempts to address the dispute never felt right. The couple instead chose to wait, pray and allow the legal process to move forward without adding “to the noise.”
Emily acknowledged that there is “so much to say,” but said their strongest feeling now is gratitude. “What does feel important is that we can genuinely say that we are sitting here today feeling immense gratitude for so many things and so many people,” she said.
Justin added, “Gratitude has saved us.”
The dispute began after Lively accused her director and costar of sexual harassment and orchestrating a smear campaign during production of the 2024 film. Baldoni denied the allegations and later filed a $400 million defamation lawsuit against Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds. The suit was dismissed.
Lively later dropped her case and settled with Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios. No money changed hands, though she is now seeking $7.5 million in legal fees.
Justin thanked those who stood beside his family, saying, “We’re here, in large part, because of so many of you.”
“When God presses the reset button and everything else is stripped away, that’s when love shows up,” he said. “And we feel so loved.”
