A judge has ordered Drake to sit for deposition or appear in court during the XXXTentacion murder trial.

Prosecutors are arguing that XXX, who was killed in June 2018 during a robbery outside a motorcycle store that quickly escalated to violence, is somehow connected to his murder.

Michael Boatwright, 28, Dedrick Williams, 26, and Trayvon Newsome, 24, are charged with first-degree murder with a firearm and armed robbery with a firearm. They are accused of killing rapper XXXTentacion, whose real name was Jahseh Onfroy, during an armed robbery in 2018 in Florida. A fourth defendant, Robert Allen, took a plea deal for a 2nd-degree murder charge, and he is set to testify against his friends.

“If deponent Aubrey Drake Graham does not appear to deposition he must appear before this court on Monday Feb. 27, 2023 at 10 a.m. EST at so [sic] the court can determine why he should not be held in contempt,” the court order reads via Rolling Stone.

Dedrick’s attorney explained to the court that neither Drake nor his lawyers have responded to requests by the defendants to appear for a zoom deposition. After getting no objections from the prosecution, the judge authorized the attorney to do a “rule of show cause,” which is in effect a subpoena of Drake.
