Lontrell Williams Sr. says his Memphis properties pay the bills. A federal judge says he still cannot leave home to manage them.
The father of rapper Pooh Shiesty will remain under strict house arrest after his request to travel locally for work was rejected. Williams had asked for permission to visit several properties he owns, manages, and is renovating throughout the Memphis area.
According to a court filing, Williams said overseeing the projects from inside his residence had become nearly unworkable.
“It has proven extremely difficult to manage the properties and complete the necessary work without being able to leave his home,” he wrote. Williams also said the properties are his “sole source of income” and help him support his family while paying legal fees.

Judge David L. Horan denied the request, finding that home incarceration is still the “least restrictive combination of conditions” that can reasonably ensure Williams appears in court and does not pose a danger to others or the community.
Federal prosecutors argued that Williams had not shown any new circumstances that would justify easing the restrictions. They also asked why the renovations could not be supervised “from his home, via telephone, or using the internet.”
Williams was released in April after posting a $250,000 bond. He is charged with kidnapping and conspiracy to commit kidnapping in a case involving Pooh Shiesty and others. Prosecutors allege the group forced Gucci Mane to sign a contract at gunpoint.
