Jonathan Majors’ domestic violence trial has been delayed to September as the prosecution said it was not ready because it’s still obtaining discovery.
The trial was due to begin this week.
Majors and charged with accounts of assault and aggravated harassment following an alleged domestic dispute with his girlfriend at the time, Grace Jabbari. During the arrest, Jabbari told officers she was assaulted and taken to the hospital with “minor injuries to her head and neck.”
Majors has pleaded not guilty to the four charges against him. Another charge, of strangulation, was dropped. If convicted of misdemeanor charges of harassment and assault, he faces up to one year in jail.
In June, an attorney for Majors blasted the NYPD for the star’s arrest for allegedly physically assaulting his ex-girlfriend. Priya Chaudhry told Insider that Majors had hoped the misdemeanor-assault charges would be dropped by Manhattan prosecutors.
Chaudhry wrote a letter to Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Rachel S. Pauley claiming that Majors’ arrest was “racist.” She also claimed that the officers involved questioned how he could afford to live in a luxury triplex penthouse.
