Hip hop turned 50 last year and Joe Budden says that he did not see one celebration marking the event that was good.

In fact, he said he hated them all.

“I hate all them sh-ts. They coulda celebrated Hip Hop and honored Hip Hop, which is what KRS-One was saying. He was saying, ‘Why would I show up to these events to celebrate Hip Hop and there’s no Hip Hop there?’” he said on his podcast.

Budden added that the state of the culture as a whole is depressing.

“That’s sad for me,” he added.

In August, Budden complained about record labels not putting together their own tributes. In September, he said the future is “dark.”

“Everybody can’t go do a show, everybody can’t get a song on a playlist,” he said. “Everybody can’t access their fans, or the information behind these units that they’re moving. It’s dark out there… [People] don’t know how to respond to AI, label people are leaving for the tech companies, they’re playing all types of stock games at the top… their artists are not getting one red penny. It’s disgusting out there.”
