Joe Budden is spilling more tea about the beef between Kendrick Lamar and Drake and says the pair spoke not long before their rap beef exploded on social media.
“I heard that Drake and Kendrick had a talk before any diss record was released. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but I heard they spoke!” he told his Joe Budden Podcast cohosts.
Budden would not say exactly what he was told but gave a vague outline of how the conversation went.
It went like the Teddy Pendergrass part of the sh-t,” he said, referencing the intro of Kendrick’s “Euphoria.

The intro samples Pendergrass’s 1981 single “You’re My Latest, My Greatest Inspiration.”
Some believe Kendrick Lamar and Drake could be gearing up for round two after K.Dot dropped a track this week, seemingly taking aim at his critics as well as the media.
Budden added that the convo likely went:” “‘Hey, how do you want this go? ‘What we doing? Oh, we rapping? Okay, then let’s keep it umph.’ And he didn’t keep it umph so… It’s not even, like, real tea. It’s only tea ’cause to say it to him on the phone — like, I know what that’s like when you bouta f-cking tear a n-gga. ‘Let me call him and make sure first. Hey man, we doing this for real?’”
