Jim Jones reflected on the breakup of Roc-A-Fella and how it affected New York in a recent interview.
“The confusion at the Roc-A-Fella breakup did a lot of damage for New York music. Remember, Roc-A-Fella had so many different types of music. They had The Diplomats, they had State Property, they had Brooklyn sh-t. They really had a strong hold on East Coast music, so when that sh-t started to happen,” he explained.
Capo and Hitmaka appeared on DJ Self’s show to promote their Back In My Prime album. Hitmaka produced all of the hits…even though some have hinted that he doesn’t make his own hits.
Last week, legendary producer Pete Rock tweeted, dissing modern rappers. Many assumed the tweet was about Hitmaka.
“They are resampling rap and r&b records that was made only 3-4 years ago [crying laughing face emoji] no diggin for the hits they sampling what was already a hit recently lol [shrug emoji],” he wrote via Twitter.
