Jeff Teague Mocks Zion Williamson Over ‘Dumb as Hell’ Press Conference

Former NBA guard Jeff Teague isn’t buying into Zion Williamson’s comeback story and is making it known.

The New Orleans Pelicans star recently told reporters he feels “the best I’ve felt since college,” but Teague says the sudden shift doesn’t deserve applause.

“This is probably the dumbest press conference I’ve heard in my life,” Teague said on his Club 520 podcast. “All of this is because of you. You choose to eat, be out of shape, all that. Now, all of a sudden, it’s a contract year, probably looking for an extension. All of a sudden, he’s in shape, and he said they believe in me. Fool, they gave you a max deal. They’ve been believing in you.”

The 24-year-old forward, once considered the NBA’s brightest prospect, has spent much of his career battling injuries, conditioning questions, and even a scandal involving adult star Moriah Mills.

For Teague, the sudden turnaround feels overdue. “Now you decide to lock in and do what pro athletes do. Take care of themselves,” he said. “Hell no, I’m off that, I ain’t a fan no more. You get paid damn near $40 million a year to be in shape.”

Williamson has slimmed down heading into the new season, averaging 24.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 5.3 assists last year when healthy. But Teague insists the All-Star could’ve been in this position years ago. “C’mon, bro, you were the one damn near 300 pounds,” he added.

While Zion vows this season will be different.
