Jay Z and Beyonce have officially distanced themselves from Lizzo, the popular pop singer whose currently under attack for allegedly abusing her backup dancers.
Up until just a few days ago, Jay Z and his Roc Nation company were selling tickets to his Made In America annual concert in Philadelphia. Lizzo was the concert’s headline artist.
Jay Z’s promotional company made the announcement on Instagram on Tuesday. Organizers claimed the cancellation was “Due to severe circumstances outside of production control.”
“This decision has been difficult and has not been made lightly nor without immense deliberation. Made In America has a legacy of delivering exceptional experiences for music fans and concert goers, and it is our commitment to always deliver a top-tier festival experience.”
The concert tour was selling tickets briskly, Media Take Out learned, up until a few days ago – when the Lizzo news broke. Then ticket sales slowed down dramatically, according to a person close to Roc Nation.
The concert was set to be headlined by Lizzo – but was also set to feature SZA, Metro Boomin, Latto, Coi Leray, Lil Yachty, Coco Jones, and others.
This is the latest blow on the career of Lizzo, who is being accused of fat shaming and s***ally exploiting her female dancers.
Just days ago, the Carters let the world know that Lizzo was no longer a member of their crew. During Beyonce’s Renaissance concert tour, Bey has removed all mention of the big boned singer from her sets.
In the past, Bey has shouted out Lizzo while performing the big lady’s hits.
