Jay-Z’s years-long legal nightmare has seemingly come to an end after the woman who accused him of raping her as a child admitted she never met him.
The unnamed woman, who previously alleged that Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs assaulted her when she was 13, has formally recanted her accusations.
“There is no truth to any of my claims against Mr Carter,” she said in a declaration obtained by Rolling Stone.
Her statement continued: “I understand my false accusations have caused Mr Carter immense pain, suffering, and damage that can never be fully undone.”
The allegations stemmed from a 2024 lawsuit involving an alleged assault following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. Jay-Z and Diddy denied the claims, and the woman withdrew her lawsuit in 2025.
Jay-Z subsequently sued the woman and her former attorneys, accusing them of pursuing allegations that lacked credible support.
Although the woman has now been dismissed from that case, the rapper’s legal battle with her former attorneys continues.
Attorney Tony Buzbee told the outlet that her admission was “new information” if she was now claiming she had lied to him and the court.
Her current lawyer, James Blair Newman Jr., said she still maintains she was sexually assaulted but was “entirely mistaken” in identifying Jay-Z.
