Jax Taylor’s lawyer says Brittany Cartwright is trying to push her estranged husband to his breaking point, accusing her of hoping their legal battle will cause him to abandon his sobriety.
Mark Vincent Kaplan told TMZ that Cartwright attempted to restrict Jax’s custody while seeking a restraining order. Kaplan said the court denied those requests and questioned why similar concerns had not been raised during the previous year.
He accused Brittany of creating “fabricated emergencies rather than facts” as the former couple’s breakup continues to play out in court.
Kaplan also defended Jax’s sobriety, saying the reality star has passed every drug test since leaving rehab while claiming that Brittany is attempting to “beat him down” so Jax will “stray from his maintained sobriety,” adding, “that is a goal for which she will not succeed.”
Jax has also sought a restraining order against Brittany. He asked a judge to order her to remain 100 yards away, avoid contacting him and stay out of his business dealings.
In his filing, Jax accused Brittany of contacting employers and partners and claimed her actions cost him a $175,000 role on Fox’s “Special Forces.”
Jax has previously said he is approaching two years sober, attends weekly therapy and voluntarily undergoes random drug testing.
After last season’s shambles of a reunion, fans are calling for Jax to be reinstated, calling the remaining cast members just as toxic, particularly his estranged wife, Brittany.
