Jamie Foxx Slams George Floyd Joke From Kevin Hart Roast!

Jamie Foxx says Kevin Hart’s roast made him rethink just how far he wanted to go in his own new stand-up special.

“After that Kevin Hart roast, I had to cut everything,” Foxx told The Hollywood Reporter while discussing Take Care of Yourself, which premieres Oct. 7 on Hulu and Disney+.

Foxx said Hart’s roast response convinced him audiences were reacting differently to certain kinds of jokes, prompting him to trim material before the special was released. He also addressed Tony Hinchcliffe’s offensive joke about George Floyd.

“I didn’t like the George Floyd s–t at all,” Foxx said.

At the time, Hart played down the joke when responding to the backlash from fans.

“Yeah, the George Floyd joke, it wasn’t a tasteful joke to our culture, to our audience, but our audience that’s watching the roast, if you’re watching the roast, you get why they’re doing it. You get why the racial humor is on the table,” Hart said at the time. “I wasn’t shocked. That’s what they do. Go look at [The Roast of] Tom Brady, like, that’s what they do. It happens every year when they do a roast. It’s not new.”

This has been the comedian’s first stand-up special in a while. Foxx suffered a brain bleed and stroke in 2023.
