Jada Pinkett Smith moved back in with Will Smith two years ago, bringing the longtime couple under the same roof after years of living apart, according to a source.
“They are happy and love each other and are, as ever, committed to supporting each other,” an insider told TMZ.
The pair also spent July 4 together in Philadelphia, where Will performed with the Roots around 2 a.m. following a rain delay. Jada “was there with him as she always is,” the source added.
The reported reunion follows a complicated chapter in their nearly three-decade marriage. Jada revealed in 2023 that she and Will, who wed in 1997, had quietly separated in 2016. They remained married while maintaining separate homes and raising their children, Jaden and Willow.
During their separation, Jada became romantically involved with singer August Alsina. She addressed the relationship during a 2020 Red Table Talk conversation with Will, calling it an “entanglement.” Jada faced backlash as August was close friends with her son at the time and was battling severe health issues. She had also shared that he viewed her as a maternal figure before their relationship became intimate, but fans slammed her, accusing her of praying on the young August during a vulnerable time in his life.
The couple faced backlash again after the 2022 Oscars, where Will walked onstage and slapped Chris Rock after the comedian made a joke about Jada’s shaved head. Jada has alopecia. Will later won best actor and was subsequently banned from Academy events for 10 years.
Jada later said the incident changed how she viewed their marriage.
“After all those years trying to figure out if I would leave Will’s side, it took that slap for me to see I will never leave him,” she said at the time.
