Issa Rae Cancels ‘Insecure’ Anniversary Tour After Scheduling Chaos

Issa Rae and the Insecure crew are calling off their planned 10th anniversary tour just days before it was set to begin.

Rae joined Yvonne Orji, Jay Ellis, Natasha Rothwell and former showrunner Prentice Penny in a video announcing that scheduling conflicts had forced them to scrap the 13-city run.

“We are so sorry we had to cancel the tour. We are also bummed. I’m serious,” said Penny. “But everybody started working, which is good.”

Rae said the group did not want to hit the road without the full team. “Unfortunately, our schedules got messed up,” she explained. “But we only wanted to do this if we could all be there and give you the best experience possible.”

The cancellation follows former cast member Amanda Seales, who played Tiffany DuBois, publicly addressing her absence from the tour lineup.

“I have nothing but respect for the ability to get something from your mind onto the page and onto the screen,” Seales said at the time.
.
“Someone said I’m jealous of Issa Rae because she has the Hollywood career, the Hollywood friends and the marriage,” she continued. “Baby, if that is what she desires, bless her. I have had a Hollywood career.”

The tour was scheduled to launch Sept. 10 in Philadelphia before visiting cities including Brooklyn, Washington, D.C., Atlanta and Houston.

Fans will still get one chance to reunite with the cast. The October 8 anniversary event at YouTube Theater in Inglewood, California, remains scheduled.
