Iggy Azalea’s retirement from rap might not be permanent after all!
The “Work” rapper has revealed she’s recording again after years of insisting she had no interest in returning to music.
In a new Instagram post featuring photos from the studio, Azalea shared the surprising reason she decided to reconsider her future.
“So recently I decided just to be sure I haven’t been running away from MYSELF too, I’d better record and guess what?” she wrote. “I drove home really f*cking happy that day.”
Azalea also admitted that stepping away from music had left her questioning her sense of identity and that although she enjoys staying offline, she sometimes feels anxious when posting because followers frequently ask about new music.
After spending months, and possibly years, contemplating her next move, the rapper decided to stop avoiding the studio.

I can't even eat them anymore because I know that's where my mind will wander every time.
“Anyway blah blah blah… after months (maybe years) of pondering I’ve decided it’s unlike me to run away from anything in life,” she explained.
In 2024, she announced she would not complete her planned album but shot down reports that she had been bullied into retirement.
“I’ve always been someone who finds my joy in being creative & seeing my ideas come to life. For a long time I used music to deliver my big crazy ideas to the world,” she wrote at the time. “I know a lot of people have this idea that I was ‘bullied away from music’ and that’s something I’ve always laughed at because I’d never be bullied out of anything! In fact, I’m too stubborn. I think I’ve even resisted changes within myself at times, purely because I don’t like being viewed as someone who quits.”
