Major beauty brand Huda Beauty has announced it is parting ways with Love Island USA star Huda Mustafa following her controversial livestream last month.
“We are truly disappointed by Huda Mustafa’s recent live and we take all forms of racism very seriously,” the statement reads. “While we don’t believe her actions reflect her character, we found them deeply upsetting.”
It continued: “We know that many members of our community and team were hurt and offended by these actions.”
Huda faced backlash after a fan called in to her livestream with her boyfriend Louis Russell, from Netflix’s “Too Hot To Handle” and “Perfect Match,” and used a racial slur toward her former castmate Olandria Carthen. The pair were seen laughing at the slur.
Huda Beauty’s statement went on, “As a result we have decided to end our partnership and remove any related content from our social platforms and in-store displays. Accountability is incredibly important in moments like this, and we hope that meaningful change can come from it.”
Huda has previously been confronted about her unwillingness to condemn her racist fans who have attacked Olandria since her time in the Love Island villa.
