Mike Tyson received $22 million from last night’s fight against Jake Paul, and Jake made approximately 45 million, Media Take Out has learned.
We spoke with a top boxing promoter who told us what the two fighters made, for one of the biggest fights since Floyd Mayweather.
And the top promoter broke it down for us. He explained, “They made about $20 million selling tickets (for the fight), Netflix gave them $25 million to stream it, and they got another $20 million or so in sponsorships. I know Celslius energy drink gave then $15M.”
Mike Tyson was paid a flat rate of $22 million, explained the promoter, Jake’s company got the remainder of the profits from the event, which he estimates came out to “around $45 million.”
Jake Paul and Mike Tyson’s fight was the biggest streamed fight in history. According to early Netflix numbers, more than 100 million people in just the United States watched the fight. Numbers across teh globe could reach 500 million or more, we’re told.
“It got the type of rating that the Superbowl received,” the promoter explained. “It’s a huge win for Jake Paul, for Mike Tyson, for Netflix, and for boxing.”
