Wladimir Klitschko is fighting to protect his daughter Kaya’s inheritance after the death of his former fiancée, Hayden Panettiere.
The retired boxing champion, 50, filed an emergency petition on September 24 seeking temporary guardianship of their 11-year-old daughter’s estate, according to court documents.
Klitschko fears valuable property could disappear before someone is legally authorized to protect it. His filing warns there is a “high probability” that estate property could be “lost, damaged or dissipated” without immediate court intervention.
The former heavyweight champion alleges that jewelry and other belongings have disappeared or remain unaccounted for. He also claims individuals previously connected to Panettiere accessed and destroyed her emails.
Authorities have possession of certain items as part of the ongoing death investigation.
Klitschko wants legal authority to initiate probate proceedings and nominate an estate administrator.
The former couple welcomed Kaya in 2014 before separating in 2018, when Klitschko received full custody. Panettiere previously described that decision in her memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning, calling it “the most gut-wrenching experience of my life.”
Kaya is the sole beneficiary of Panettiere’s estate. The actress, whose net worth Celebrity Net Worth estimated at $6 million, died August 16 at age 36. Klitschko is worth a reported $50 million – $90 million.
