New video shows Brian Hickerson spitting in the direction of police during his troubled 2025 arrest at a West Hollywood bar, one year before his former girlfriend Hayden Panettiere died.
The footage, obtained by TMZ, captures several officers getting a barefoot Hickerson out from under a table at Barney’s Beanery. Once in handcuffs, Hickerson appeared to spit toward an officer before stumbling.
The strange scene followed what sources described as erratic behavior inside the bar. Hickerson allegedly broke a glass and threw a shoe at another customer, prompting an employee to try to remove him before police were called.
Officers also struggled to remove Hickerson, according to the report, with photos showing him hiding beneath a table.
The bar owner later told TMZ that prosecutors did not pursue charges because they lacked sufficient evidence.
Hickerson was arrested again later that week for allegedly being under the influence of a controlled substance. That case was ultimately dismissed after he completed a diversion program that included 10 Narcotics Anonymous meetings.
His history with Panettiere had also included previous legal trouble. In 2021, Hickerson pleaded no contest to two felony counts of injuring a spouse or girlfriend.
Panettiere died on August 16 at 36. Hickerson was present that day.
His attorney later said authorities reported “no signs of foul play” and that the investigation into her death was continuing.
