Harvey Weinstein’s NY R*pe Convictions Overturned

Lyndon Abioye |

Harvey Weinstein’s 2020 rape conviction has been overturned.

In a 4-3 ruling, the New York Court of Appeals said the 23-year sentence in the state is to be overturned after ex-Justice James Burke “erroneously admitted testimony of uncharged, alleged prior sexual acts against persons other than the complainants of the underlying crimes” four years ago when he was overseeing the trial.

The disgraced Hollywood producer is scheduled to appear in Manhattan Supreme Court on May 1.

After the news hit the headlines, the 72-year-old was rushed to the prison ward of Bellevue Hospital in New York City for a “series of tests,” due to his ailing health.

“They examined him and sent him to Bellevue. It seems like he needs a lot of help, physically. He’s got a lot of problems. He’s getting all kinds of tests. He’s somewhat of a train wreck health-wise,” his attorney, Arthur Aidala, said in a statement. He will have to return to Rikers after he has completed his medical tests.
