Halle Berry is accusing ex-husband Olivier Martinez of contributing to their 13-year-old son’s worsening behavior at school as she fights his allegations of child abuse and seeks sole legal custody.
In court documents filed Wednesday, the Oscar-winning actress, 60, claims Martinez has repeatedly interfered with their son Maceo’s education and mental health treatment while undermining her parenting authority. The issue has grown increasingly acrimonious over the weeks, with the former couple leveling serious allegations against one another in their court filings.
“Since the issuance of the Temporary Restraining Order on October 1, 2026, Maceo’s behavioral issues at school have significantly escalated,” the filing states.
According to school correspondence cited in the documents, Maceo has allegedly disrupted classes, harassed a younger student, used inappropriate language, and thrown objects. He reportedly received a week of detention beginning October 12.
The filing comes after Martinez, 60, accused Berry of choking their son during an argument involving a virtual reality headset. Berry has denied the allegations, with her attorney calling them “entirely meritless and deliberately misleading.”
Berry is now requesting sole legal custody, or final authority over educational, medical, and mental health decisions when the former couple cannot agree, as well as for Maceo to attend weekly individual therapy for at least one year and participate in therapy sessions with her.
Berry and Martinez married in 2013 before separating in 2015. They finalized their divorce in 2023, and both agreed to joint custody of their son.
