Rapper Gunplay posted a recording of a phonecall between him, Charlamagne tha God and DJ Envy after taking offense to comments Envy reportedly made about a GoFundMe set up to help cover the costs of Gunplay’s newborn daughter’s medical costs.
Envy reportedly made the comments during Gunplay’s beef with Maybach Music boss, Rick Ross.
“Why you talking crazy? About me my brother. What I had to do with anything, and my wife posting a GoFundMe? My baby was sick. She had a heart defect. That has nothing to do with cars. You know I’ll slap the sh-t out you, boy! Envy, for real, you know I’ll slap the sh-t out of you, right?” Gunplay says on the call.
Envy responded with a genuine apology: “We can fight, but that’s not the reason I’m saying that. I wasn’t trying to disrespect you. I wasn’t talking about your daughter. If you feel like you were disrespected, I’m talking to you like a man. I would never. If you feel I did, I apologize. That wasn’t my intention.”
Envy’s apology was not enough. Gunplay says he wants a public apology and posted the conversation online. Some fans called Gunplay “lame” for posting the call especially since Envy apologized.
Was Gunplay wrong for making the call public?
