Garcelle Beauvais says that her 16-year-old son Jax will not be appearing in the upcoming 14th season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills after he was targeted by racist trolls two years ago following an uncomfortable exchange with Erika Jayne.
While attending an event, an intoxicated Erika Jayne was extremely rude to Jax and instead of having compassion for the young teen, trolls flooded his social media with rude comments and racial slurs.
“Right before this season, Jax said to me, ‘Mom, I can’t do it anymore. It was too negative for me,'” Garcelle told the Pop Culture Moms podcast. “And I respected that. So he’s not on this season at all. Actually, I haven’t said it to many people, so you’re the first really hearing it.”
Erika did apologize to Jax and to Garcelle, but the damage was already done.
“That was also one of the hardest things because they didn’t sign up for it,” Garcelle added. “Watching the show in the past, I always felt like the kids were in the background. You saw them at the house, they weren’t subjected to any negativity. So I thought, ‘We can do this.’ And then that happened with Jax. It blew my mind, because nobody deserves it,” she added. “Nobody’s kids deserve it.”
