Garcelle Beauvais On ‘RHOBH’ Exit: “It Was Hurting My Spirit”

Garcelle Beauvais is keeping it real about her decision to walk away from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and why she’s not looking back.

During a recent appearance on The Breakfast Club, the actress and television personality, 58, was asked whether she missed filming the Bravo reality hit. Her answer was firm, “No.”

“It was great in terms of like, I got a new audience and there were really wonderful things that happened because of the show,” Garcelle said. “But I think my time was up.”

Despite speculation that money or contracts may have played a role in her exit, the Coming to America star made it clear her decision was personal. “It was nothing like that,” she explained. “I just couldn’t do it anymore. It was really hurting my spirit. I couldn’t physically, spiritually, mentally, do it anymore.”

Garcelle added that she’s learned to prioritize her well-being, both in her personal and professional life. “I’ve been really great about choosing me when I’m faced with something,” she said. “If I don’t choose me, it will probably not work out for me. So I have faith, and I just knew it was time.”

When asked how her close friend and former castmate Sutton Stracke might fare without her on the show, she responded, “Girl, I don’t know. That’s on her.”

“I just needed space,” she said of her exit. “I follow people who I want to see what they’re doing and I want to support. And if you’re out of my life, I don’t see why I need to follow you.”

Garcelle also addressed comments made by Erika Jayne, 54, and Bozoma “Boz” Saint John, 48, on Watch What Happens Live, where they appeared to mock her exit from the show. “They were mean girls,” she said candidly.

“I met with Boz prior to her coming onto the show for lunch. We got along great,” she recalled. “So I don’t know why we were being pitted against each other.”
