Gabrielle Union and actor Keith Powers had a pretty steamy love scene in their new Netflix movie, The Perfect Find.

It’s interesting, because Keith was the longtime boyfriend of actress Ryan Destiny – and was still while Keith was filming the movie with Gabrielle.

That’s important, because Gabrielle, in her autobiography, referred to Ryan Destiny as her “rival.” Gabrielle talked about a very confrontational interaction with Ryan in her book:

“Just the night before, I had attended a pre-Oscar cocktail party for women in film. There I had met a young actor named Ryan Destiny,” she wrote. “She had appeared in the Lee Daniels series Star. I had heard that she looked like me. I saw her in person and she looks like I literally gave birth to her. Gab 2.0, only better.”

She then recalled the brief exchange they had, which led to her having a not-so-polite thought about the young star, who was having a fan-girl moment after meeting the iconic actress.

“‘Oh my God,’ she said. ‘I am finally meeting you. This is so amazing.’ ‘What are you, twelve?’ ‘Twenty-two.’ ‘St.’ ‘I admire you so much,’ she said. ‘If you could mentor me…’ Bh, f*k you, I thought. You want me to mentor you?” she recalled. “The press is literally calling you the next Gabrielle Union… ‘except she can sing and dance!’ I smiled, and the photographers came over. They needed to document this moment of ‘Look who’s old!'”

The Straight Outta Compton actor, 29, and Star actress, 27, split earlier this year, after four years together, Media Take Out reported.

“They’re taking time to focus on themselves and their emerging careers but are remaining close friends,” People magazine reported at the time.

Powers has leading roles in two upcoming Netflix films, including The Uglies (opposite Joey King), and is also starring alongside Gabrielle Union in Perfect Find. Meanwhile, Destiny — who wrapped her hit show Star in 2019 and previously starred in Grown-ish — has a lead role in Barry Jenkins’ upcoming film, Flint Strong.
