Fyre Fest co-founder Billy McFarland is reportedly working with Donald Trump to track down rappers who will endorse him in the runup to the election in November.
Rolling Stone reports that McFarland has been helping the former president to recruit Black voters and is behind him teaming up with rappers, including Brooklyn rappers Sheff G and Sleepy Hallow at Trump’s recent campaign rally in the Bronx.
McFarland does not have an official role in Trump’s campaign team.
McFarland was released from prison in May 2022. He was originally meant to be released from prison August 30, 2023.
He pleaded guilty to two counts of wire fraud in March 2018 for using fake documents to attract investors into giving him money for the scam festival. Ja Rule was one of the founders but avoided any prison time. Mcfarland originally faced up to 20 years in prison.
McFarland agreed to pay back the $26 million to his victims and also pleaded guilty to selling phony tickets to events, cheating his victims out of $100,000.
