Rapper Freeway says the real Freeway Rick Ross approved the use of his rap moniker and that they are good friends.
Freeway Rick Ross has many times blasted rapper Rick Ross for using his name and never asking for permission. Freeway says he did things differently.
“After I read the Freeway story and, you know, I wasn’t nowhere near as big as Freeway was, but we was living similar lifestyles,” Freeway told Vlad. “So I’m like, ‘Damn, this would be a dope rap name,’ so I took it on.”
“When he was in jail I reached out to him,” Freeway continued. “I wrote him a letter and let him know how I was carrying it, made sure it was cool with him before I even started going crazy with it, and he respected it. When he came home, we got together, and it was all love.”
That’s great news. But Freeway Rick Ross is still waiting on Rick Ross to do the same.
“I think he avoids me. He avoids me,” Freeway Rick Ross said on Shirley Ju’s podcast. “A couple of times, I went to places that he was supposed to be and he disappeared. He was nowhere to be found. I reached out to him too, I tried to make amends. I told him that if we worked together, we probably could help more people. But then he went on The Breakfast Club and dissed me. I really was more disappointed with The Breakfast Club because they didn’t invite me on to refute what he said about me.”
