Former NBA player Delonte West was arrested again in Virginia last month, marking his second run-in with police in less than two months.
According to authorities, a victim reported being assaulted and robbed on Dec. 21 along the 5900 block of Richmond Highway in Belle Haven. Police say West, 42, was located nearby shortly after the incident and taken into custody.
TMZ reports that the total amount allegedly taken during the robbery was $23.
West was charged with robbery and assault and transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. He was later released after posting a $1,000 bond.
The arrest follows a separate incident in November, when police detained West at a northern Virginia intersection after observing signs of intoxication. At the time, authorities said he was taken into custody for his own safety before being released.
West is a Prince George’s County native who graduated from Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt and later attended Saint Joseph’s University. He went on to play in the NBA for the Boston Celtics, Seattle SuperSonics, Cleveland Cavaliers and Dallas Mavericks.
In recent years, West’s struggles with substance abuse and housing instability have been well documented.
