Former child star Raquel Lee is accusing a former Disney employee of sexually assaulting her when she was 14 while working on the 2001 Disney Channel movie The Poof Point.
In a recently filed lawsuit, Lee, now 39, alleges the unnamed employee pressured her to drink alcohol, sexually harassed her and later raped her while the cast and crew were staying at a hotel in Utah.
The complaint describes the man as an adult, middle-aged Disney employee who was involved in filming the movie and was “at least double her age.”
Lee alleges he first invited her and her guardian to his hotel room under the pretense of rehearsing lines. She claims she was pressured to drink alcohol there and later returned to her own room “intoxicated and not well.” According to the lawsuit, she was subsequently invited back to his room alone, where the alleged assault occurred.
Her attorneys, Douglas Wigdor and Jane Kim, said in a statement that abuse of child performers is “inexcusable” and that those responsible “directly or indirectly” must be held accountable.
The lawsuit also accuses Disney of failing to protect Lee, alleging “not a single adult acknowledged the abuse or tried to help her.”
Disney declined to comment on the lawsuit.
Lee later worked on The Proud Family and appeared in the 2024 docuseries Quiet on Set, where she discussed her experiences as a child performer.
