Harlem rapper FERG says he doesn’t like hanging around with rich people because they don’t make for good company.

“After you make money and you get rich and all of that sh-t, right… like what really matters after that? It’s boring being around mad rich people. That sh-t is wack; not even gonna lie. Whatever they advertise and all that, sh-t is trash,” he said on the Zach Sang Show.

He continued: “They’re sauceless. That’s why I feel like a lot of rich people buy art and clothes and sh-t because you can buy into somebody’s sauce.”

FERG (previously A$AP Ferg is a lead member of the hip hop collective ASAP Mob, from which he adopted his moniker and recording contract with Polo Grounds and RCA Records—the same labels that helped launch ASAP Worldwide—in January 2013. Two years prior, the group’s cohorts, ASAP Rocky and the late ASAP Yams, effectively negotiated their own contract with the label.

Outside of music, Ferguson founded the street fashion brand Traplord in 2012, which is the namesake for his debut album. In 2013, he was named “Rookie of the Year” at the BET Hip Hop Awards.
