The federal government is asking a judge for permanent control of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ unexplained “Ibiza Tapes,” but the recordings’ contents remain a closely guarded mystery.
In papers filed Tuesday, prosecutors requested final forfeiture of Sony DVCAM cassettes taken from Diddy’s Miami residence during a March 2024 federal search.
The documents do not describe the handwritten or printed label “Ibiza Tapes.” Prosecutors do not reveal when the material was recorded, who appears in it, or whether it has any actual connection to Ibiza.
“The Government respectfully requests that the Court enter the attached Final Order of Forfeiture,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Emily Johnson wrote.
Officials said Diddy’s ownership rights had already been forfeited and that no individuals or companies submitted claims seeking the property. A public notice ran online from Oct. 15 through Nov. 13, 2025, followed by an additional period for objections.
Investigators also seized phones, computers, tablets, flash drives, hard drives, and surveillance equipment from Diddy’s property.
Jurors viewed other explicit recordings during Diddy’s federal trial, though the filing does not state whether the “Ibiza Tapes” were used as evidence.
Diddy was convicted of two prostitution-related transportation offenses but cleared of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking.
If Judge Arun Subramanian signs the order, federal officials will decide whether the cassettes are retained, destroyed or otherwise disposed of legally.
