Fat Joe’s Legal Team Accuses Lawyer of Inventing Case Law Using AI!

Tiffany Brockworth |

Fat Joe is asking a federal judge to sanction attorney Tyrone Blackburn, accusing him of filling a court filing with nonexistent or misleading legal citations that appear to have been generated by artificial intelligence.

In the brief, the rapper’s attorneys identified 17 instances in which Blackburn allegedly cited cases that could not be found or inaccurately described real rulings. Fat Joe’s team argues that the filing cannot be trusted and seeks to have the court reject the motion and penalize Blackburn.

“It is time, once and for all, for Blackburn to be sanctioned for his flagrant disregard of his duties and responsibilities to the court in fabricating and intentionally misconstruing legal authority,” the attorneys wrote.

The dispute is part of Fat Joe’s ongoing legal fight with former hype man Terrance “T.A.” Dixon and Blackburn. Fat Joe’s lawsuit alleges the pair attempted to pressure him into a multimillion-dollar payment by circulating false accusations involving sexual misconduct and other criminal behavior. Fat Joe and Roc Nation have denied those accusations.

The attorney has also been referred to a grievance committee following comments he allegedly made during a deposition. Fat Joe’s attorneys are now asking the court to impose sanctions and allow the defamation case to continue.

Blackburn has faced court penalties before in a separate lawsuit involving T.D. A federal judge found that Jakes had relied on phony citations and ordered him to pay $5,000 in sanctions.
